BLOOM—ÉCLOSION
2008
Bloom—Éclosion is a commissioned public installation, a large-scale triptych (40 x 130 inches) presented as a singular panoramic landscape. The piece depicts a child in an elusive, Edenesque garden, exploring themes of childhood memory and imagination. The young protagonist is positioned between two contrasting landscapes—a swan-filled lagoon and a tropical forest—immersed in both the real and imagined and suspended between the tangible and the ethereal. At the heart of the work is the idea that imagination creates a psychological space where anything is possible. Conceived in 2008 for the Cultural Community Center (CCSE) in Montreal's Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district, Bloom was created as part of Ville de Montréal's Public Art Competition.
